Almost as Special! Those who are trying to collect hardcovers have noticed that Eric is particularly hard to find at a reasonable (under $100) price. It's preposterous! Eric was only published once in hard cover (ISBN: 0575046368, two print runs: Aug & Sep 1990). The 1st printing goes for $600 and up, and even the 2nd printing costs WAY too much for the average casual collector, usually around $250. If you can find the Unseen Library edition (1/4 "leather" with very fancy paper) that's just as silly, typically $150 and up. But WE have some specially rebound copies, almost just like the original, for a mere $75 US dollars! Here's the deal: the original print run was the same for both the hardcover and paperback editions. Exactly same paper, sewn binding, everything the same except the cover—paper or hard boards. So we got some nice paperback copies and had our local bindery put them into hard covers. The spine doesn't have the original fancy lettering, but everything else is just like new. These include a digitally remastered Dust Jacket, also like new, which is not price-clipped (most of the real ones are...a printing error put the wrong price on them, so the distributor clipped it off).
